The Forsyth Public Library has operated as a department of the Village since its creation in 1983. The Library is located at 268 S. Elwood Street. Library hours are as follows:

Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday: 9:00 am to 8:00 pm
Wednesday and Friday: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
Saturday: 9:00 am to 3:00 pm
The Library is closed on Sunday.

Library Department Staff

The Library Staff is composed of the following key individuals:

  • Library Director – Rachel Miller
  • Youth Services Librarian – Sandi Hayes
  • Senior Library Tech – Shelly Smith 

Rachel Miller

Library Director

Rachel Miller became the Library Director in 2011. Prior to joining the Village staff, she worked as a School and Youth Services Consultant  for Rolling Prairie Library System in Decatur.  She holds a Masters degree in Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.  Rachel's duties are to administer the day-to-day operations of the library, supervise a staff of seven, select and maintain the Library's adult collection, and serve as liaison to the Library Commission. Rachel is additionally responsible for preparing the library's budget, completing the annual report and per-capita grant application, participating in long-range planning and overseeing the efficient use of library resources.
