Barkfest returns to Forsyth Park

Tuesday, July 26, 2011

Organizers of a fundraiser for a no-kill shelter for kittens and puppies hope to have 250 dogs and their owners participate in the event set for Saturday, Sept. 10, in Forsyth Park.

The second annual “Barkfest” will be held from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on that day for “…any kind of four-legged furry friends” on a leash, according to Karen Reed, manager of Love at First Sight in Hickory Point Mall. Reed said a $3 donation will be collected from everyone except children age 12 and under. Everyone is welcome to participate. Participants will be asked to sign a form to verify that the pets have current shots and vaccinations.

The day will be filled with games, a Bounce House, activities, food and music. Prizes will be awarded in four categories including the smallest, biggest, owner/dog look-alike and best dressed. Goodie bags will be distributed to the first 200 registered dogs.
