Board nixes six committees

Thursday, April 28, 2011

On April 18, Village trustees voted 4-2 to disband six of the Village’s longtime standing volunteer advisory committees. The Library Advisory Committee, with Head Librarian Jean Campbell as facilitator, will remain as a volunteer committee pending further review. Trustees Steve Hubbard and Larry Reed were the sole votes to retain the committee system.

In a separate vote, trustees were unanimous in a decision to establish two ad hoc committees for the purpose of moving forward with pending projects. Current members of the Activities & Events Committee will continue to plan for Forsyth Family Fest while existing Economic Development Committee members will involve themselves with Forsyth’s participation in the Futures Charity Golf Classic in June and the Farm Progress Show in September.

Village Administrator Heather Kimmons said there are “endless possibilities” as she and staff work to find the most effective way to gain citizen input. “We need to get creative,” she said.
