Special float honors 40-year residents

Forsyth Family Fest
When: June 19-20
Theme: “There’s No Place
Like Home”

The Forsyth Family Fest is set for the weekend of June 19-20. The annual parade gets rolling Saturday morning June 20. The theme for this year’s event is “There’s No Place Like Home.”

With the thought of home in mind, consider this your invitation to ride on the Grand Marshal float. This doesn’t mean you’ll be the actual Grand Marshal, but it does mean that you would be riding on a float that pays tribute to residents who have called Forsyth their home for 40 years or more. This honorary float will have the distinction of leading off the parade.
With the parade’s start time of 10 a.m., anyone interested in riding on the float should be in Staples parking lot and be ready to load up at around 9:30 a.m. the morning of June 20.

If you’d like to participate in this unique opportunity, you can make a reservation by contacting Heather Giannino at (217) 450-1905, or you can just show up that morning and climb aboard – just as long as there is still room available.

The goal is to get about 15-20 people to ride on the float. However, if there is enough interest and enough advance notice, there may be the option of arranging for an extra trailer to accommodate everyone who’d like to hitch a ride on this honorary float that pays tribute to longtime community members.
