Chili Cookoff proceeds not yet available

Thursday, February 16, 2012

Fewer international cooks at January’s Great Forsyth Regional Chili & Salsa Cookoff will mean less proceeds to be divided between Catholic Charities and the Salvation Army. Last year, the charities split $5,756.43.

“We’re still waiting for the final results,” said Mayor Hap Gilbert. Entry fees were down this year, and Gilbert theorized the economy and the expense of traveling might account for the drop. Two Forsyth residents won in the local celebrity competition: Chris Barrett took first and Ken Frye took third. DMH Wellness Center won for best decorated sponsor booth, and Veolia Environmental Services won for its southwest theme.
