Take a walk with the pros

Decatur Memorial Hospital is sponsoring “Walk a Healthy 18,” a chance for local residents to walk a one-mile course through Hickory Point Golf Course with LPGA Futures players. The walk kicks off at 5:15 p.m., Monday, June 13, and the entry fee is $10.

The first 500 paid registered walkers will each receive a T-shirt, low-fat dinner from Olive Garden restaurant, entry into a prize drawing and free blood pressure screening. Proceeds from the walk support the DMH Heart & Lung Institute. Pre-registration is required, and entry forms are available at

Elder Watch

Elder Watch will hold a potluck meeting at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, June 6, at Forsyth United Methodist Church. Pastor Ken Dees and his wife, Gayle, will share their musical talents. Call Denny Rotz, the publicity coordinator, at 877-1405 with questions.

Forsyth/ Hickory Point Township Historical Society

The Forsyth/Hickory Point Township Historical Society will have a breakfast meeting at 7 a.m. Friday, June 3, at the Forsyth McDonald’s. The group meets the first Friday of each month.

Recycle unwanted paint

Forsyth residents interested in participating in the county-wide paint recycling program should take their unwanted paint to the Decatur Business Center at 2121 Imboden Court in Decatur between 9 a.m. - noon on June 5.

The Macon County Environmental Management Department will accept interior and exterior latex, alkyd, enamel and oil-based paints; porch, floor and deck paints; oil and latex primers; and interior and exterior stains and varnishes. For more information, call 425-4505.
