Farewell to Rasho; Peck, Trachtenberg are sworn in

Thursday, May 14, 2015

The April election saw Jim Peck elected as trustee for the first time and incumbent Kerstin Trachtenberg re-elected. Both were sworn in at the May 4 board meeting.

While congratulations were in order as they began their new terms, it meant saying farewell to Trustee Bob Rasho, who opted not to run again after serving two terms.

“I would like to thank Bob for his dedication for eight years,” Mayor Marilyn Johnson said, commending Rasho “for always thinking of taxpayers.”

On a personal note, she added: “I’m going to miss him.”

Rasho spoke briefly saying that he enjoyed serving during this period and that he took the job very seriously.

“Public service is a privilege,” Rasho told his colleagues. “At times we did have disagreements, but that’s how democracy works.”

He thanked everyone he served with, “but most of all, I thank the residents of Forsyth,” he said.

Trustee Steve Hubbard added his thanks to Rasho for his years of service, saying that he enjoyed working with him.
“I personally know that he always had the best interest of Forsyth in mind,” Hubbard said.

Rasho cast one last vote before taking a seat in the audience to watch the swearing-in of Peck and Trachtenberg. 
