Fest 2016 to pay tribute to ‘Hometown Heroes’

Thursday, February 11, 2016

The theme for the Forsyth Family Fest 2016 has been announced, according to Village Trustee Kerstin Trachtenberg, chairperson of the festival since 2014. “Hats Off to Hometown Heroes,” this year’s theme, celebrates the folks who keep us all safe every day.

The dates of the annual community celebration are June 17 and 18.

“We’re inviting the fire chief, deputies and Decatur Ambulance medics to ride on a float,” Trachtenberg said, in keeping with this year’s theme.

Also on board the float for the annual Saturday morning parade will be people nominated as heroes by residents.

“We’ll be asking people in Forsyth to nominate people they consider heroes,” Trachtenberg said. “That could be a favorite teacher, a doctor or a pastor.”

Save the date so you’re ready to come out to Forsyth Park to celebrate with friends and neighbors this nice place that we call home.

More details will be printed in upcoming issues of Village Vision. Be sure to watch for opportunities to volunteer for this major event on the community’s calendar.
