Final new scoreboard now in place in Forsyth Park

Thursday, November 27, 2014

The last of the new scoreboards is now in place on Diamond No. 5 for a total of four new scoreboards on Forsyth Park’s playing fields.

Diamond No. 5 is where the high school girls play softball. Diamond No. 4, which is adjacent just to the south, is currently getting new lights. There’s some heavy equipment on hand for the job, which should be done by the end of the year, according to Public Works Director Larry Coloni.

Diamond No. 4 is used by the high school boys and also by men’s adult league players.

Back in the summer, Public Works crews put up new scoreboards on the south ball diamonds, Diamonds No. 1 and 2.

Pepsi donated $10,000 to offset the village’s costs, a deal that allows for the Pepsi logo to be displayed on all the park’s scoreboards. The 10-year agreement makes Pepsi the sole vendor in the park.

All that’s left to do now scoreboard-wise is to move an old scoreboard from Diamond No. 5 over to Diamond No. 3, Coloni said.
