Forsyth Family Fest 2015 celebrates our hometown

Forsyth Family Fest runs next weekend, June 19-20, with a theme that celebrates our hometown: “There’s No Place Like Home.”

An honorary float that honors those who have called Forsyth home for 40 years or more will lead off the annual parade on Saturday morning, June 20. The parade starts at 10 a.m., and floats will be prepping for the parade in the Staples parking lot by around 9:30 a.m. If you have any questions about riding on the honorary float, make a reservation by contacting Heather Giannino at (217) 450-1905.

Come out to Forsyth Park to celebrate the place we call home. There will be good friends, good food, live music and carnival rides… and so much more. Be sure to stay for the fabulous fireworks show that caps things off on Saturday night. Below is your guide for the weekend’s activities:

Friday, June 19
5-9 p.m. — Free carnival rides
5-9 p.m. — Carnival Games
5:30-7:30 p.m. — Face painting by The Zoo Lady
5:30-7 p.m. — Community Cookout
8 p.m. — Co-ed Softball Game

Saturday, June 20
Family Fest 2015 5K Run/Walk and 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk
7-7:30 a.m. — Registration/Packet pick up
8 a.m. — Race
10 a.m. — Parade
11 a.m.-8 p.m. — Free Carnival Rides
11 a.m.-8 p.m. — Carnival Games
11 a.m.-8 p.m. — Taste of Forsyth
11 a.m.-3 p.m. — Face painting
11 a.m.-4 p.m. — Horse and Buggy rides (parking lot by tennis courts)
1-3 p.m. — Scovill Mobile Zoo (pavilion)
11 a.m.-12 p.m. — Macon County Animal Shelter Pets (pavilion) 
1-1:30 p.m. — Sharps Taekwondo Demonstration (stage)
12-1 p.m. — Musical Performance by Luke (pavilion) 
2-2:30 p.m. and 4:30-5 p.m. — Amazing Dudley Magic Show (stage)
3-4:30 p.m. — Bingo
6:30-9:30 p.m. — Live Entertainment: LHP
9:15 p.m. — Fireworks
