Items of interest from Village staff and the Aug. 19 Board meeting

  • Forsyth resident Jim Peck was appointed to fill a vacancy as an alternate member on the Planning and Zoning Commission. The vote in favor of Peck was unanimous by trustees. Peck replaces Don Van Lyssel, who recently stepped down.
  • Deputies for the Macon County Sheriff’s Department made verbal reports at both August board meetings. There was a recent incident of vandalism with some damage done in the park and at a residence. No arrests have been made, but the individuals responsible admitted to the damage done to the residence but not at the park. There was some retail theft activity at Hickory Point Mall, but no other criminal activity to report. Bike patrols will continue in the village until the weather becomes too inclement to allow for the patrols to be effective.
  • The Forsyth Sunrise Rotary Club invites anyone interested in becoming part of Rotary International, and specifically part of the Forsyth club, to an informal and informative breakfast meeting at 7 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10 at the Homewood Suites Conference Room. Come enjoy a complimentary breakfast and discover what Rotary is all about, how it can positively affect the community and how you can play a vital role in this fun and positive community service group. All neighbors, friends, business owners, community leaders and school personnel are welcome. The Rotary would love to have you.
