Items of interest from Village staff and recent board meetings

  • An advertisement for bids for the library’s window project was published in the Decatur Herald and Review on Nov. 7. Bid opening will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 5 in the Forsyth Public Library conference room.
  • Be sure to take notice of any malfunctioning street lights around the village. Public Works Director Larry Coloni recommends the Adopt a Street Light program as an easy and effective way for residents to help out. It’s as simple as contacting Village Hall via email or phone whenever you notice a light not working. Public Works crews often work at night, but it’s often to solve more immediate problems, so they might not see street light problems. The village pays for lights whether they are working or not, so we might as well have them working.
  • Due to the uncertainty brought about by the new Affordable Care Act and its effect on health insurance rates, the village recently decided to renew its health insurance policy for employees ahead of the expiration date that comes up in April 2014. The motion carried for approval of the early renewal plan for health coverage with Blue Cross Blue Shield.
  • Leaf pickup reminder: The annual free leaf pickup program continues until Dec. 6. Leaf piles should be placed in the village-owned right-of-way by 8 a.m. on weekdays. There is no pickup on holidays or weekends. Leaf pickup is for leaves only; no tree limbs or other landscape will be collected.
