Items of interest from Village staff and the Dec. 16 Board meeting

  • The Village of Forsyth signed a renewal agreement with Homefield Energy as its aggregation energy supplier. The new agreement will take effect in June 2014 and end in June 2016. The new rate will be 0.4480 per kWh. If you have questions or would like more information, contact Homefield Energy at (866) 694-1262.
  • ’Tis the season for an uptick in retail thefts at Hickory Point Mall, according to the most recent law enforcement report to village trustees on Dec. 16. Deputies told the board they increase patrols at the mall during the shopping season, especially on Friday and Saturday evenings. Deputies also reported there is continued radar enforcement of County Highway 20.
  • After considering several proposals, the board recently approved contracting with Kemper CPA Group, LLP from Champaign to perform the village’s annual audit for FY 2013-14 at a cost of $15,000, with the option of FY 2014-15 at a cost of $15,500 and FY 2015-16 at a cost of $16,000. The vote was 6-0 in favor.
  • Mark your calendars for kindergarten screenings coming in February. Screenings are scheduled for Feb. 4 and 5. Call Maroa-Forsyth Grade School at (217) 877-2023 to arrange an appointment. Screenings are for children who will be 5 years old by Sept. 1, 2014.
  • The next regular meeting of the Forsyth Board of Trustees will be at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 6, 2014, in Village Hall at 301 S. Route 51 in Forsyth.
