Items of interest from Village staff and the Jan. 6 Board meeting

  • Correction: In the Dec. 26 edition of Village Vision, an item in Forsyth Fast Facts stated that the Village of Forsyth had recently signed a renewal agreement with Homefield Energy as its aggregation energy supplier, an agreement that takes effect in June of 2014 and ends in June of 2016. All of that is correct, however, there was an error regarding the new rate, which should have been listed as 0.04480 per kWh. We apologize for the error.
  • On Christmas Day, Public Works Director Larry Coloni received a phone call from the security staff at Hickory Point Mall regarding a water leak at Texas Roadhouse. Coloni was asked if he could help get the water shut off, but by the time he arrived, it had been turned off by one of the restaurant’s managers.
  • Three members of the village’s Public Works crew recently traveled to Champaign for training and testing for spraying herbicides and pesticides. The training is a requirement before being allowed to use Roundup weed killer and other chemicals.
  • Mark your calendars for upcoming kindergarten screenings coming in the month of February. Screenings are scheduled for Feb. 4 and 5. Call Maroa-Forsyth Grade School at (217) 877-2023 to arrange an appointment. Screenings are for children who will be 5 by Sept. 1, 2014.
  • The next regular meeting of the Forsyth Board of Trustees will be at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 20 in Village Hall, 301 S. Route 51. The meeting will be open to the public.
