Items of interest from Village staff and recent Board meetings

  • James Hockaday spoke to the board at the Feb. 3 meeting and expressed his concern that the Decatur Herald & Review had not been printing the announcement of village board meetings along with notices of other meetings in the area. Hockaday said he phoned the newspaper himself and was told that the notice would be printed regularly if the information were provided to the appropriate contact person at the newspaper. Hockaday gave that contact information to Mayor Marilyn Johnson.
  • Sean Martin spoke at the Feb. 3 board meeting to inquire about the status of installing lights on Diamond No. 4 at Forsyth Park. Martin said he believed that if lights were installed, the field could be used more. He said that lights are an important factor because of excessive summer heat during daylight hours. Martin said teams are making schedules now for the upcoming season, and coaches would like to know what plans are for lighting the field before they finalize their schedules. The mayor replied that the topic would be discussed during budget-planning sessions scheduled to be held in the next few weeks.
  • Carrie Buckley is a new stylist at Area 51 Salon at 105 S. Route 51 in Forsyth. If you’d like to schedule an appointment, her phone number is (217) 329-5429.
  • The next regular meeting of the Forsyth Board of Trustees will be 6:30 p.m. Monday, March 3, 2014 in Village Hall at 301 S. Route 51 in Forsyth. Board meetings are open to the public.
