Items of interest from Village staff and the recent Board meetings

  • The Decatur Auto Dealers, comprised of Miles Chevrolet/Nissan, Crown Toyota/Scion and Bob Brady Auto Mall, will hold a tent sale June 5-9 near Hickory Point Mall. Since 1996, the village has approved a $7 per car rebate request by the auto dealers. At the June 2013 sale, 154 vehicles were sold. The village received a percentage of the sales tax generated by the sale, but the state does not provide a grand total of sales tax generated from the sale. The village’s rebate to dealers last June, at $7 per vehicle, came to $1,078. The motion to approve the $7 rebate request carried.
  • Remember the Fill The Shoe Fundraiser to support the St. Jude Run takes place on June 14. Participants will be at the intersection of West Weaver Road and West Forsyth Parkway from 7:40 a.m. to 5 p.m. collecting donations. The annual St. Jude Run, which will take place Aug. 2, is now one of the foremost charity running events in the nation. Every year since 1982, runners pay for the honor to participate in this unique, 465-mile event, running relay-style from Memphis to the St. Jude Midwest Affiliate in Peoria. More than $13 million has been raised along the way for St. Jude kids. For more information on this great cause, go to
  • The next regular meeting of the Forsyth Board of Trustees will be at 6:30 p.m. Monday, June 2, 2014 in Village Hall at 301 S. Route 51 in Forsyth. Board meetings are open to the public.
