Items of interest from village staff and recent board meetings

  • Village Administrator David Strohl requested permission from the board on Sept. 15 to execute a new municipal electric supply contract. The village’s current contract — this is not related to residential use — with Homefield Energy expires soon. Due to volatility in the electric supply market, Strohl asked for authorization to enter into a contract with a supplier at a rate and term that’s best for the village. All votes were Yea; authorization was approved.
  • At the Sept. 15 board meeting, trustees approved a contract with Conner Family Amusements, Inc. of Beardstown to furnish rides for the 2015 Forsyth Family Fest to be held June 19-20. Eight rides will be erected in Forsyth Park for a fee of $12,000. The village will provide security in the park at night, while Conner Family Amusements, Inc. will furnish a certificate of insurance prior to the event and is responsible for its own lodgings.
  • The Macon County Sheriff’s office and WAND-TV have joined forces to produce a promotional video to be used for recruiting on college campuses. A deputy reported that video has been shot of officers on bike patrol in the parks and village residents were interviewed for the project, which he said should be ready next year.
  • The next regular meeting of the Forsyth Board of Trustees is Monday, Oct. 6, 2014 at 6:30 p.m. in Village Hall at 301 S. Route 51 in Forsyth. Board meetings are held the first and third Mondays of the month and are open to the public.
