Items of interest from village staff and recent board meetings

  • It’s not too late! Next weekend’s Forsyth Family Fest is all about fun, and one of the most widely attended events is the annual 5K and 1-mile Fun Run/Walk. The running and walking get under way at 8 a.m. on Saturday, June 20. Cost is $18 for the 5K Run/Walk and $2 for the 1-mile Run/Walk. There’s still time – you can sign up the morning of the race or contact Village Hall at 877-9445 about signing up in advance.
  • Resident Dave Gant told trustees May 4 that there is “no rhyme or reason” to the placement of some stop signs near his home on Phillip Circle, and he would like to see some of them removed. Resident Joe Dugger told trustees at the June 1 board meeting that his opinion of Gant’s request was that trustees not trade safety for convenience. No action was taken.
  • In the law enforcement report at the June 1 meeting, Deputy Cassandra Barnes told trustees there were a couple of recent burglaries to motor vehicles, including one incident that involved a broken window. Barnes also reported that residents can expect to see deputies working extra shifts during the upcoming Forsyth Family Fest. Barnes said bicycle patrols in the village began in May.
  • The next regular meeting of the Forsyth Board of Trustees is scheduled for Monday, June 15, 2015 at 6:30 p.m. in Village Hall at 301 S. Route 51 in Forsyth. Board meetings are held the first and third Mondays of the month and are open to the public.
