Items of interest from village staff and recent board meetings

  • Resident Sid Audiffred spoke to trustees at the June 15 meeting. He reminded the board that residents Dave Gant and Joe Dugger both made recent visits to separate board meetings to offer their views on the placement of stop signs around the village. Gant wanted some signs removed; Dugger urged caution in that regard. Audiffred suggested that as a matter of courtesy, trustees follow up with an official answer, particularly after residents speak at a meeting. Village Administrator David Strohl responded that he had not heard back from Gant about which stop signs he was referring to.
  • The Decatur Auto Dealers, comprised of Miles Chevrolet, Crown Nissan, Crown Toyota/Scion and Bob Brady Auto Mall, held their summer tent sale June 11-15 behind Hickory Point Mall. Since 1996, the village has approved a $7 per car rebate request by the auto dealers. At the June 2014 sale, 115 cars were sold. The village received a percentage of sales tax generated by the sale, but the state doesn’t provide a grand total of sales tax generated from the sale. The village’s rebate to dealers last June, at $7 per vehicle, came to $805. The approval for this year’s request carried as part of the June 1 meeting’s consent agenda.
  • The next regular meeting of the Forsyth Board of Trustees is scheduled for Monday, July 6, 2015 at 6:30 p.m. in Village Hall at 301 S. Route 51 in Forsyth. Board meetings are held the first and third Mondays of the month and are open to the public. 
