Items of interest from village staff and recent board meetings

  • At the Jan. 28 Planning and Zoning Commission meeting, Commissioner Dennis Downey asked Chairman Bill Busbey if he had any objection to continuing to serve as chairman. Upon Busbey’s reply that he was willing to continue in the role, Downey made the motion to reappoint Busbey as chairman for another term. Downey then made a motion to reappoint Kris Quandt as vice chairman for another term. Commissioners approved both reappointments.
  • Also at the Jan. 28 Planning and Zoning Commission meeting, Community and Economic Development Coordinator Emily Prather, whose duties include working with planning and zoning, proposed a new start time of 5:30 p.m. for future meetings. Commissioners voted to approve the new start time.
  • In the law enforcement report to the board on Feb. 1, Macon County Sheriff’s Deputy Drake Lambdin reported that in addition to himself, the following deputies are working shifts out of Village Hall: Shane Cole, Mike Nelson, Shane Wendell and Travis Wolfe. Lambdin also reported that on Jan. 29 residents living on Ventura Drive and Phillip Circle reported having windows damaged by a pellet or BB gun. Lambdin also reported there’s been several recent false alarms at Ross Dress for Less at Hickory Point Mall.
  • Due to the observance of Presidents Day, the next regular meeting of the Forsyth Board of Trustees has been moved to Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2016 at 6:30 p.m. in Village Hall at 301 S. Route 51 in Forsyth. Board meetings are held the first and third Mondays of the month and are open to the public.
