Items of interest from village staff and recent board meetings

  • The Maroa-Forsyth School District will host an informational meeting regarding an education fund tax rate increase referendum that may potentially be presented to voters at the November election. The meeting is June 8 at 7 p.m. in the high school cafetorium. Anyone with questions is encouraged to attend.

  • This is the last call for Family Fest volunteers. If you would like to join in and help with the festivities by volunteering either Friday, June 17 or Saturday, June 18, please contact Jim Peck at jpeck@forsythvillage.us. Thank you!
  • In the law enforcement report May 16, Sgt. Ron Atkins reported about a road rage fight at the intersection of U.S. 51 and Barnett Avenue on Sunday, May 15 at about noon. Six people from two cars were fighting in the intersection. Two people were arrested on felony charges. Atkins also reported that Deputy Shane Wendell is on desk duty after receiving a citation for a recent traffic accident while on duty in the village. Everyone involved in the accident near Village Hall was treated and released, Atkins said, adding that extra deputies have been assigned to help with Wendell’s second shift duties.
  • The next regular meeting of the Forsyth Board of Trustees is scheduled for Monday, June 6, 2016, at 6:30 p.m. in Village Hall at 301 S. Route 51 in Forsyth. Board meetings are held the first and third Mondays of the month and are open to the public.
