Items of interest from village staff and recent board meetings

  • At the November 21 Board Meeting, Village Administrator David Strohl and trustees continued ongoing discussions about the 2017 Operating and Capital Budget. The budget has not been finalized yet as Strohl has produced three drafts and made modifications at the trustees’ request. Strohl said he will incorporate the latest changes into a final draft that he plans to present for approval at the next meeting.
  • Reminder: The filing period for petitions is December 12, 2016 to December 19, 2016, for the Consolidated Election to be held on April 4, 2017, for the following municipal offices: Mayor and Three (3) Trustees – Four-Year Terms. Petitions were made available beginning back on September 20 at Village Hall. Village Hall hours are 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday through Friday; closed for lunch 12:30-1:30 p.m.
  • Public Works Director Larry Coloni wrote in his written report to trustees on November 17 that he recently filled two positions on his staff making the department fully staffed. Public Works crews have been busy in recent weeks finishing up mowing, trimming trees, picking up tree limbs, and collecting leaves, according to Coloni. He also reported that they have winterized restrooms, concession stands, and drinking fountains in Forsyth Park. Up next: Getting ready for the upcoming snow season.
  • The next regular meeting of the Forsyth Board of Trustees is scheduled for Monday, December 5, 2016, at 6:30 p.m. in Village Hall at 301 S. Route 51 in Forsyth. Board meetings are held the first and third Mondays of the month and are open to the public.
