Items of interest from village staff and recent board meetings

  • NOTICE is hereby given that the office of Forsyth Village Hall will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, beginning December 12, 2016, through December 19, 2016, for the purpose of accepting candidate petitions for the Consolidated Election to be held on April 4, 2017, for the following municipal offices: The Mayor and Three (3) Trustees – (four-year terms)
  • No Shave November has now morphed into Don’t Shave December for Macon County Sheriff’s Office deputies. The November fundraiser donated $2,000 to local needy families. Participants in the department donate a $1 per day toward casual days or for growing facial hair. The money raised by deputies in December will go to Toys for Tots.
  • In the December 5 law enforcement report, Macon County Sheriff’s Deputy Travis Wolfe reported another “smash and grab” theft at Von Maur. The incident occurred just after 3 a.m. on November 27 and involved three subjects. Deputies were on the scene within two minutes of being notified, but the assailants had already fled. Investigators do not know if there is a connection to similar incidents that occurred in recent months, nor do they know if this group is connected to recent arrests of individuals for similar crimes in the region.
  • The next regular meeting of the Forsyth Board of Trustees is scheduled for Monday, December 19, 2016, at 6:30 p.m. in Village Hall at 301 S. Route 51 in Forsyth. Board meetings are held the first and third Mondays of the month and are open to the public.
