Items of interest from village staff and recent board meetings

  • In the law enforcement report on February 6, Macon County Sheriff’s Deputy Ashley Higar reminded residents to not delay and call immediately if they see something suspicious. He said deputies would rather solve potential problems right away. Higar joins Shane Beck, Chad Wayne and Jennifer Harris as officers now serving and protecting the village.
  • Maroa-Forsyth School District Kindergarten Screenings are Wednesday, February 22 and Thursday, February 23 from 8:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m. for children who will be 5 on or before September 1, 2017. Screenings are at Maroa-Forsyth Grade School, 641 E. Shafer St., Forsyth. For an appointment, contact Maroa-Forsyth Grade School at (217) 877-2023, option 3.
  • Maroa-Forsyth School District Developmental Screenings are Thursday, March 2 and Friday, March 3 from 8:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m. for children who will be ages 3 and 4 by September 1, 2017. Screenings are at Maroa-Forsyth Grade School, 641 E. Shafer St., Forsyth. Parents interested in their 3- and 4-year-old children possibly entering the Pre-Kindergarten program MUST have their children screened. For an appointment, contact Maroa-Forsyth Grade School at (217) 877-2023, option 3. NOTE: There will be no further screenings until next school year, and those screenings will be only for families new to the community.
  • Due to the Presidents Day holiday, the next regular meeting of the Forsyth Board of Trustees will be Tuesday, February 21, 2017, at 6:30 p.m. in Village Hall at 301 S. Route 51 in Forsyth. Board meetings are held the first and third Mondays of the month and are open to the public.
