Items of interest from village staff and recent board meetings

  • Planning and Zoning Commission Chair Bill Busbey told the Board March 20 that the commission has an opening for an alternate member. By ordinance, the commission is composed of seven regular members and two alternates. If you have an interest in serving, please contact Village Hall.
  • A sign of spring: Public Works Director Larry Coloni reports that work has been under way on Diamond No. 5 in preparation for Maroa-Forsyth High School’s home softball games.
  • The Annual Easter Egg Hunt needs volunteers to help with the most important part of this family-friendly event! On Tuesday, April 4 from 5–7 p.m., in the conference room at Village Hall, volunteers will gather to fill eggs. This informal event allows volunteers to drop in and come and go as their availability allows. Help is also needed with hiding eggs in Forsyth Park on Saturday morning, April 15 before hunters arrive; that gets started at
    8 a.m.
  • Andrew Zupkoff, the Village’s new community and economic development coordinator, is organizing a free Franchise Opportunities Workshop in conjunction with the SCORE chapter at Millikin University coming up Thursday, May 18 from 6–7:30 p.m. in the community room at Forsyth Public Library. Look for more details as the date gets closer.
  • The next regular meeting of the Forsyth Board of Trustees is scheduled for Monday, April 3, 2017, at 6:30 p.m. in Village Hall at 301 S. Route 51 in Forsyth. Board meetings are held the first and third Mondays of the month and are open to the public. 
