Items of interest from village staff and recent board meetings

  • The Village’s annual free spring Clean Up Days are coming up the last week of April, beginning on Monday, April 24 and running through Friday, April 28. All Forsyth residents may use this opportunity to dispose of unwanted items, with a few restrictions. Electronics are banned from landfills, but the Village contracts with a state-certified recycler to collect electronics. Other exceptions include: landscape waste, oil, hazardous chemicals, paint, tires, household trash or railroad ties. Curbside pickup begins at 7 a.m. For more details and a neighborhood pickup schedule, see the full story on Page 1.
  • New Community and Economic Development Coordinator Andrew Zupkoff’s regular report to trustees noted that he has met with local real estate developers and Realtors to gather their expert opinions regarding future residential development here and what the Village can do to help in that effort.
  • Zupkoff also noted in his memo that he used the Village’s subscription to the Retail Tenant Directory Online, an online publication that has detailed profiles of expanding retailers, to find leads and make contact with 34 national businesses currently expanding in Illinois.
  • Village Hall will be closed for Good Friday on Friday, April 14, 2017. The office will reopen on Monday, April 17, 2017, at 8 a.m.
  • The next regular meeting of the Forsyth Board of Trustees is scheduled for Monday, April 17, 2017, at 6:30 p.m. in Village Hall at 301 S. Route 51 in Forsyth. Board meetings are held the first and third Mondays of the month and are open to the public.
