Items of interest from village staff and recent board meetings

  • Sgt. Ron Atkins of the Macon County Sheriff’s Office told trustees on April 17 that body cameras will be used by officers serving the Village “sooner rather than later.” Atkins said the equipment is ready, and the department is currently in the policy development stage.
  • At the April 17 Board meeting, developer Jeff Horve expressed his gratitude to trustees for approving the recent construction of press boxes in Forsyth Park. Horve, who did the construction, said he’s heard nothing but positive feedback, including from a local reporter who said the park is easily the best place to watch a game.
  • This year’s Easter egg hunt was a big success, thanks to the generous volunteers who gave of their time. Shauna Bohlmann, event coordinator for the Village said residents were greeted by Mayor Marilyn Johnson as they arrived at Forsyth Park. Adam Lewis did the honors of donning the bunny costume. New Trustee Kerry Denison and his wife Laura helped with signage and directing participants. Other sign holders were: Loes Padrutt; Tricia Queen; Jeff Park; and Nina Wright. Paula Cordts; Abby Hurst; Annika Padrutt; Sheree and Alaina Park; Jess, Lucas, Wyatt and Brooklyn Brownfield; and Evelynn, Isaiah, and Cyrus Bohlmann all helped hide eggs. Thank you to everyone!
  • The next regular meeting of the Forsyth Board of Trustees is scheduled for Monday, May 1, 2017, at 6:30 p.m. in Village Hall at 301 S. Route 51 in Forsyth. Board meetings are held the first and third Mondays of the month and are open to the public.
