Items of interest from village staff and recent board meetings

  • Zeth Giles spoke to the Board at the May 1 meeting in his role as a Forsyth Youth League board member. His concern was for safety at the Forsyth Park diamonds. Specifically, he spoke about injuries that have occurred as a result of foul balls hitting players and even spectators due to the close proximity of the park’s diamonds. Giles urged trustees to consider adding protective netting. Mayor Johnson asked Giles to leave his contact information so Village Administrator David Strohl could follow up with him.
  • The Village received its Tree City USA designation for the 21st year. Part of the requirements include creating a proclamation and distributing tree seedlings to grade schools on Arbor Day. Public Works Director Larry Coloni said over 300 trees were handed out to first- and second-graders at Warrensburg and Forsyth schools.
  • The Decatur Auto Dealers, comprised of Miles Chevrolet, Crown Nissan, Crown Toyota/Scion and Bob Brady Auto Mall, will hold a tent sale at Hickory Point Mall May 18-22. Since 1996, the Village has approved a $7 per vehicle rebate request by the auto dealers. The Village’s rebate to dealers in May 2016 for 140 vehicles sold at $7 rebate for each came to $980. The annual agreement was approved again.
  • The next regular meeting of the Forsyth Board of Trustees is scheduled for Monday, May 15, 2017, at 6:30 p.m. in Village Hall at 301 S. Route 51 in Forsyth. Board meetings are held the first and third Mondays of the month and are open to the public.
