Items of interest from village staff and recent board meetings

  • In the law enforcement report on December 4, Macon County Sheriff’s Deputy Dan Carr reported that the Village has been relatively quiet, and retail thefts are down. He did report an incident where an intoxicated driver was arrested after almost hitting a bicyclist. The man was taken into custody but first wanted to fight with officers. Carr said the suspect was tazed, pepper-sprayed and arrested. One deputy had a minor injury as a result of the scuffle.
  • Calling all entrepreneurs: This is your opportunity to own a convenience store/gas station/quick service restaurant located at U.S. Route 51 and County Highway 20 in the thriving Village of Forsyth. In fact, there are several commercial sites/buildings available in Forsyth to fit just about any budget and need. Incentives such as Enterprise Zone and more may be available to help you kick-start your new venture.   • On December 4, Andrew Zupkoff attended the Mid-America EDC Competitiveness Conference in Chicago at the InterContinental Hotel. The Mid-America Economic Development Council, based in Columbus, Ohio, bills itself as a group of “dedicated economic development professionals” whose mission is to share best practices for economic development.
  • The next regular meeting of the Forsyth Board of Trustees is scheduled for Monday, December 18, 2017, at 6:30 p.m. in Village Hall at 301 S. Route 51 in Forsyth. Board meetings are held the first and third Mondays of the month and are open to the public.
