Items of interest from village staff and recent board meetings

  • Reminder: The Village of Forsyth and Burdick Plumbing & Heating are working to change out all of the water meters in Forsyth. Please give Burdick a call at your earliest possible convenience at (217) 519-1702, and let them know when would be a good time for them to change your meter.
  • Macon County Sheriff’s Deputy Shane Beck delivered the law enforcement report at the December 18 Board meeting. Beck said there had been two recent incidents involving retail theft at Hickory Point Mall. A loss/prevention officer at Von Maur was escorting a shoplifting suspect back into the store when the suspect punched the officer in the chest and fled; the officer was not injured. In a separate incident, a man and a woman who were trying on rings at a mall jewelry store ran off with the rings valued at $8,500. Both incidents are under investigation.
  • On December 15 at Village Hall, the Village of Forsyth donated its old bucket truck to Maroa. This comes after Forsyth received a newer donated bucket truck from Ameren Illinois.
  • At the December 4 Board meeting, trustees approved a feasibility study to look more closely at potential costs and uses for a community center for the Village.
  • Due to the holiday, the next regular meeting of the Forsyth Board of Trustees is scheduled for Tuesday, January 2, 2018, at 6:30 p.m. in Village Hall at 301 S. Route 51 in Forsyth. Board meetings are held the first and third Mondays of the month and are open to the public. υ
