Items of interest from village staff and recent board meetings

  • Signs are now installed on Route 51 at both the north and south entrances to the Village that read: “NO Excessive Engine Braking Noise.”
  • The Macon County Sheriff’s Office shares these timely winter driving tips from the Illinois State Police: Take it slow. Allow extra travel time. Buckle up. Slow down. Pay attention. Get your head out of your phone. Keep at least 1/2 tank of gas in your car. Slow down. Leave extra distance between vehicles. Pack an emergency kit. Don’t use cruise control. Turn on your headlights.
  • Community and Economic Development Coordinator Andrew Zupkoff reported that in December he hosted three Chicagoland retail real estate developers to show them some vacant sites in the Village. Zupkoff said the trio was interested in several local sites so he put them in touch with the properties’ owner. He also noted that the developers responded positively to the new TIF district.
  • The Community Foundation of Macon County is accepting online scholarship applications for the 2018-2019 academic year at High school seniors in Macon County who have been accepted at an accredited college or university are encouraged to apply as are current college students.   • The next regular meeting of the Forsyth Board of Trustees is scheduled for Monday, January 15, 2018, at 6:30 p.m. in Village Hall at 301 S. Route 51 in Forsyth. Board meetings are held the first and third Mondays of the month and are open to the public.
