Items of interest from village staff and recent board meetings

  • Get your running/walking shoes warmed up and ready to go! The Forsyth Family Fest 5k/1 mile/tot trot is Saturday, June 16 at 7:45 a.m. Register at Village Hall or online at Fees: $15, $7.50 and $5, but deadlines and late fees apply after June 1.
  • The Decatur Auto Dealers — Miles Chevrolet, Crown Nissan, Crown Toyota/Scion and Bob Ridings — will be at Hickory Point Mall this weekend (May 17-21) for the group’s annual summer tent sale. The auto dealers requested a $7 per car rebate from the Village, which has been granted every year since 1996.
  • Public Works Director Larry Coloni’s report to trustees for the May 7 Board Meeting provided an update on the Village’s water meter replacement project that began last fall. There are now 25 installations left to do, Coloni noted, and his staff is doing the work. These remaining installations will finish up a major project that was approved last year by trustees that called for replacing all water meters at residences and businesses throughout the Village.
  • Coloni also reported that on Arbor Day, Public Works staffers joined Tree Board members in distributing over 300 Norway Spruce seedlings to first- and second-graders at Maroa-Forsyth Grade School, Warrensburg-Latham Grade School and Decatur Christian School.
  • The next regular meeting of the Forsyth Board of Trustees is scheduled for Monday, May 21, 2018, at 6:30 p.m. in Village Hall at 301 S. Route 51 in Forsyth. Board meetings are held the first and third Mondays of the month and are open to the public.
