Items of interest from village staff and recent board meetings

  • Here’s hoping your running/walking shoes are ready to go as Forsyth Family Fest’s 5k/1 mile/tot trot is Saturday, June 16 at 7:45 a.m. You can register in person at Village Hall or online at Fees: $15, $7.50 and $5. Late fees do apply after June 1.
  • In the law enforcement report on May 21, Deputy Herbert of the Macon County Sheriff’s Office told trustees about a report earlier in the same day about a man with a gun, which turned out to be “totally unfounded” as the man was under a tree and had no weapon. Herbert also reported four recent felony arrests at Village retail locations — two came at Von Maur and two at Menards. The incidents were mostly thefts above $300, but narcotics were found on one suspect, and there was an aggravated battery that involved a loss prevention specialist at Von Maur being the victim.
  • In April, trustees approved an agreement with Ameren Illinois that will allow the Village to hang American flags from light poles in parts of the Village. The flags will be mounted on poles on U.S. Route 51 followed by Weaver Road, Elwood Street, and Ruehl Street. Trustee Bob Gruenewald, who is an Ameren employee, abstained from the vote.
  • The next regular meeting of the Forsyth Board of Trustees is scheduled for Monday, June 4, 2018, at 6:30 p.m. in Village Hall at 301 S. Route 51 in Forsyth. Board meetings are held the first and third Mondays of the month and are open to the public.
