For example, did you know Forsyth has an average daily traffic count of over 40,000 vehicles via I-72 and US 51? Each vehicle contributes to the local economy when stopping here for gas or food. Also, did you know the Village was named after Col. Robert Forsyth, the first general freight agent of the Illinois Central Railroad? Forsyth arrived in 1856 and stayed for a year.

During the October 15 Board meeting, Trustee Bob Gruenewald noted that the sales tax revenues for the Village were up for seven of the last nine months over corresponding months from the previous year for a total of just over $81,000. Gruenewald said he appreciated seeing those numbers in the monthly treasurer’s report prepared by Village Treasurer Rhonda Stewart.

Just a casual glance when passing by on Route 51 shows that McAlister’s Deli construction is moving along rapidly. The company has submitted signage permits and variance requests that will be considered at the November Planning and Zoning Commission meeting.

The next regular meeting of the Forsyth Board of Trustees is scheduled for Monday, November 5, 2018, at 6:30 p.m. in Village Hall at 301 S. Route 51 in Forsyth. Board meetings are held the first and third Mondays of the month and are open to the public.
