Forsyth H2O gets top honors

Thursday, November 13, 2014

Public Works Director Larry Coloni recently received his 21st consecutive certificate of commendation from the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency and the Division of Oral Health. The commendation recognizes those communities whose water systems are maintained at state-mandated fluoride levels.

Only 430 community water systems statewide were recognized for this important service, and of those, only 43 have met the standard for more than 20 years as Forsyth has.

According to officials with the Illinois Department of Public Health, drinking fluoridated water from birth can improve overall oral health by reducing tooth decay by a rate of 40 percent to 65 percent in children and adults. 
