Items of interest from the March 7 Board meeting

BOARD DECISIONS

  • Trustees unanimously approved a request from Forsyth Village Antique Mall for a special use permit to construct and operate a garden area and bistro.
  • In a unanimous vote, trustees approved a request from Forsyth Public Library Head Librarian Jean
    Campbell to hold the library’s annual sale of magazines and other media on April 8 and 9.

    OTHER NEWS
  • The Board tabled action on several items until a future meeting, including the issue of purchasing laptops for the themselves, the fate of the citizen advisory committees, and a review of legal and engineering contracts.
  • The March 7 Board meeting ended with an announcement from Village Administrator Heather Kimmons regarding a “Meet the Candidates” night on March 28 beginning at 7 p.m. in the community center at Forsyth Public Library. Kimmons said the evening’s format will be less formal than in the past. Participants will be incumbent trustees Bob Rasho and Larry Reed joined by newcomer trustee candidate Kerstin Trachtenberg. This year’s election will be April 5 and is uncontested for the three vacancies.
  • Park public restrooms will open on April 15, weather permitting, with the exception of the restrooms between Diamonds 4 and 5, which are already open due to high school practices being held.
