Items of interest from Village staff and the March 18 Board meetings

  • Several arrests have been made involving juveniles and a 17-yearold who broke into a Forsyth residence earlier this month while the owners were on vacation, according to a deputy from the Macon County Sheriff’s Office.
  • The restroom and concession at ball diamonds No. 4 and No. 5 are open and the pond fountain in Forsyth Park is in service, according to a report from Public Works Director Larry Coloni.
  • Trustees approved several ordinances at their March 18 meeting including:
    • A variance for Friar Tuck Beverages to exceed the percentage of façade used for signage and to exceed the number of signs allowed at 1085 S. Route 51;
    • A zoning classification change for two properties known as 210 E. Weaver Rd. from R-1 (single family residential) to R-3 (multi-family residential); and
    • An easement vacation for Homewood Suites subdivision; the developer will dedicate a new water main easement for use by the Village.
  • Trustees approved a contract price of $7,500 for USA Pyrotechnics of Hartsburg to provide the fireworks for the 2013 Forsyth Family Fest set for June 14-15 in Forsyth Park.
  • Village Administrator Mike Miller said he had received only one RFP in response to the search for a new Village Vision editor/writer.
  • A public hearing on the 2013-14 budget will be held April 1 at 6:30 p.m. in Village Hall.
