High school anglers get lesson from Bassmaster pro

Thursday, September 15, 2016

Bassmaster pro Mike DelVisco, who is sponsored by Texas Roadhouse, paid a visit to the Forsyth restaurant on Aug. 21. But, before he set up for a meet and greet inside the restaurant, he went out to the pond at Forsyth Park to put on a clinic for some area high school anglers, including the Maroa-Forsyth High School fishing team.

DelVisco, based in Knoxville, Tennessee, met fans, signed autographs and gave away some fun fishing gear, in addition to offering valuable fishing tips from a full-time professional’s perspective. DelVisco has made his living doing what he loves for over 30 years.

His colorful Phoenix 721 ProXP boat, which he fishes from competitively all over the country, is wrapped with a Texas Roadhouse logo. In addition to competing as a pro angler, DelVisco conducts seminars around the country to promote the sport of fishing.

Chad Woollen, manager of the local Texas Roadhouse, was instrumental in bringing DelVisco to town. Village of Forsyth Public Works staff members gave the pond area a sprucing up before DelVisco and his young fishing enthusiasts arrived for their visit and lesson.
