Homes needed for lead testing

Wednesday, December 29, 2010

The Public Works Department is looking for homes built between 1983-1985 for lead testing of the water supply. Presently, 19 homes are being tested, according to Public Works Director Larry Coloni.

The water sample is collected by the homeowner for testing by a laboratory affiliated with the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA). The testing is free with the results forwarded to the homeowner.

Coloni encourages eligible homeowners to phone 877-7182 and have their homes added to the existing list of test sites.
