Honor a vet at park

Thursday, September 15, 2011

Honor a veteran and purchase an inscribed granite brick before a price increase. The bricks will be installed in the pavilion at the Veterans Memorial in Forsyth Park. Application forms are available for pickup at Village Hall or at the pavilion located in the north portion of the park.

T.J. Jackson, a Vietnam vet and Village resident, continues to coordinate the program. The cost for an inscribed brick will be raised to $50 after Oct. 1. Orders placed before this date will be billed at $40 per brick and installed before the eighth annual Veterans Day ceremony to be held on Nov. 11 at the memorial.

The Forsyth Veterans Memorial was dedicated Nov. 11, 2004. Jackson, who continues to oversee the placement of the bricks, constructed the forms where the bricks are displayed. Visitors to the pavilion and monument may use the parking lot near the fishing pond just south of West Forsyth Parkway.
