Beat Boredom With DVDs
Winter is a great time to cozy up with our wide variety of DVDs! Forsyth Public Library has hundreds of great DVDs for all ages, including both current and classic movies, and we can help you request any titles we may not own. Find a list of the movies and other audio-visual materials most recently added to the collection in the “new materials” link on the library’s web page.

Tech Kits for Kids
Have some family fun investigating Snap Circuits, trying out VR glasses, or even programming a MaKey MaKey by checking out one of the library’s tech kits this winter break. Families may check out one kit at a time and kits circulate for one week.

1000 Books Before Kindergarten
Young readers (ages birth to 5) are encouraged to sign up for the library’s 1000 Books Before Kindergarten program. Children who complete the program will have their names placed inside a book of their choice from the library’s children’s collection. When you sign up, you will receive a book log to help count the titles you have read/listened to along with your very own bookmark. Children will also receive a book bag when they reach 500 books. 1000 Books Before Kindergarten is designed to develop a lifelong love of reading. Though 1,000 books seems like a lot, it can be achieved by reading just one book each day for five years or three books per day for three years. Stop in the library to find out more!

Sew Much Fun
The next meeting of Sew Much Fun: Hand Sewing for Kids will be held Thursday, January 5 from 4-5 p.m. Sew Much Fun is for kids in grade 3 and up. No sewing experience is necessary, however, you must register in advance. Come make something fun!

If you were on our waiting list last time, don’t miss this chance to sign up!

Preschool Story Time
Preschool Story Time will resume on Friday, February 3 at 10 a.m. Miss Sandi and Miss Lisa are busy planning fun new sessions. Story Time is designed for children ages 3-5 along with their parent or caregiver (siblings welcome).

Happy Retirement, Shelly!
Senior Library Technician Shelly Smith will be retiring December 30. Over the last 25 years, Shelly has worked with five library directors, over 30 staff members and thousands of library patrons! In her time, she has processed over 30,000 items for circulation. Shelly is looking forward to having more time to fish (on a new boat), reorganizing her hobby room, and catching up with “old” friends. The library will host a Holiday Open House in her honor on Wednesday, December 21 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Join us in celebrating her 25 years with Forsyth Public Library!
