Freegal – Free and legal music
Your library card provides access to a new service with the addition of Freegal Music to Forsyth Public Library’s resources. Our subscription to Freegal, which is short for free and legal, allows library card holders to download three songs a week and works with any MP3 device, including iPods and most smartphones. Check the “Materials Search” section of the library’s web page (www.forsythlibrary.com), and look for the Freegal icon to access the resource. Enter your Forsyth library card number, and browse through the millions of songs available. And, of course, library staff members are happy to help with any questions.

Prize deadline
The library’s “Have Book, Will Travel” has been full of reading fun, but the journey is almost at its end. Prizes must be picked up by July 27.

Baby TALK
Baby TALK, for families with children from birth to age 3, continues every Wednesday from 9:30-10:15 a.m. at the library. These informal parent/child sessions are led by trained Baby TALK instructors and provide opportunities for sharing parenting concerns and celebrating achievements while enjoying books, songs and fingerplays. No registration is necessary.

Book talk
“The Expats” by Chris Pavone is the book of the month for the Bookkeepers Book Discussion Group. The group meets at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 16 at the library. Food for Thought Book Group is taking August off but will return in September.

Gaining readers
Summer Reading Program activities continue to gain in popularity. Overall attendance figures at summer reading events during June came in at 1,173 – and that does not include those who participate in Baby TALK or any of the book groups. It’s a figure that outpaces last year’s total during the same time period by just more than 100 readers.

Farewell
Library staff member Jill Dubicz will soon be moving from the area as her husband begins graduate studies at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb. Her last day at the library will be Aug. 2. We wish her well.
