New staff member
Forsyth Public Library welcomes new staff member Mary McCormick. Mary also works as an associate editor for Punctum Books, an open-access and print-on-demand independent publisher. Be sure to say hello the next time you’re passing through.

From Bland to Beautiful: Create Your Own Gift Packaging for Edible Goodies
How do you make edible gifts look as good as they taste? Let’s get together 10-11:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9 at Forsyth Public Library to learn creative ways to wrap up those delicious holiday treats. Instructor Jana Jayanty — graphic designer, DIY aficionado and Etsy shop owner — will share fun and resourceful ideas for wrapping and decorating delicious gifts. We’ll have all the supplies you need to transform some ordinary items into ready-to-go gift containers. LEGO Club
LEGO time is 4-5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12 for ages 7 and older (ages 5 and 6 if accompanied by an adult).

Baby TALK
Come join Baby TALK at 9:30 a.m. every Wednesday for ages birth through 3 with their caregivers.

Food for Thought Book Discussion Group
Meeting time is 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14. The book this month is Those We Love Most by Lee Woodruff. The agenda includes pumpkin pie and book discussion. Come join us!

Bookkeepers Book Discussion Group
Bookkeepers meets at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15. The group will talk about The Postmistress by Sarah Blake.

Looking Ahead/Mark Your Calendar

  • Edible Turkey Drop-in Craft from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16.
  • Family Reading Event from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19.

Grant app submitted
The Illinois Public Library Per Capita Grant application for fiscal year 2014 has been completed and submitted. The amount the library receives from this grant varies slightly from year to year, but the amount for FY 13 was $3,586.50.

Storytime program travels well
Youth Services Librarian Sandi Hayes recently went “on the road” to take a storytime program to a preschool group at Kids ‘N Fitness.
