Attention Digital Readers
Did you know that there are two services that allow library users to check out digital items such as eBooks? Many patrons are likely more familiar with our Library On The Go service, but Forsyth Public Library also subscribes to the 3M Cloud Library. While it does not offer the audiobooks that Library On The Go does, the 3M library is newer than Library On The Go and is accessible from either the website or downloadable apps for your phone or electronic reading device.

Because 3M’s collection has grown considerably since the initial launch, its loan policies have recently been updated. Patrons can now check out five eBooks at a time and place up to five holds at once. Plus, the loan period for checked-out items has been lengthened to 21 days instead of 14. For assistance with either 3M or Library On The Go, call or come in to the library.

Come to Batman’s Party!
It’s not too late to sign up for Batman’s 75th birthday party. Join us at the library from 1 to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13 for fun Batman-themed crafts, activities and cake. Ages 7 and up are welcome. Registration is necessary.

Saving for College?
If you are looking for information on how to start saving money for college, join us for a seminar on financial aid and the rising costs of financing a college education at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 25. Adam Zoll, assistant editor with and personal finance writer, will host the seminar. He will explain the pros and cons of different ways to save money for college, as well as the role that 529 Plans can play in savings. We will participate remotely in this live, online financial literacy webinar.

The Return of Tech Club
Tech Club is back with a new focus. Now, the club will concentrate primarily on iPads, though iPhone users will also find the meetings informative. Program leader Lisa Marz will divide the session into reviewing basic applications, sharing examples of how to use various applications and an informal sharing time. The topic of the month is games, so be ready to talk about what game apps you enjoy and to learn about new games to try. The first meeting is from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 16. Tech Club will continue every third Tuesday of the month through November. No registration is necessary, and remember to bring your iPad.

Baby Talk
Baby TALK continues through the month of September on Wednesdays from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. Ages 0-3 are welcome. No registration is necessary.

Bookkeepers Book Club
The Bookkeepers book group meets at 10 a.m. on Sept. 19 to discuss The Husband’s Secret by Liane Moriarty. The plot centers on a woman who finds a letter from her husband to be opened only after his death, but she decides to peek ahead of time, throwing her life and the lives of two strangers into chaos. Publisher’s Weekly notes that the novel “challenges the reader … but in the best possible way.”

New Library Card Design
The library has a new library card design that features a matching key tag for convenience. If you already have a Forsyth library card but would like to upgrade to the new design, you may do so for only $1. If you sign up for your first-ever Forsyth library card during the month of September or if you bring someone in for their first card, you will get a chance to win a gift card from Cocomero Frozen Yogurt. Come see our new card design today!

Storytime Returns
Storytime at the library resumed on Thursday of last week and continues at 10 a.m. each Thursday through
November 20. This fun series is for ages 3-5 and includes stories, crafts and other activities. September’s themes include shapes, colors, rhymes and numbers. No registration is necessary.
