Library Renovations
Forsyth Public Library will be closed for renovations from Monday, Feb. 23 through Saturday, March 14. You will still be able to return library materials in the drop box outside the library, but you will not be able to check out any items during the renovation. Because of this, due dates for items checked out before the library closes will be extended to cover the period of renovation. Be sure to stock up before the Feb. 23 closing, and remember that your Forsyth Public Library Card can be used at all area libraries. Bear with us as the library gets a new coat of paint and new carpeting. We will reopen as soon as possible. Stay tuned to the library’s website and Facebook page for updates.

Magazine Sale
It’s time for the library’s annual Magazine and Used Materials Sale! The sale will be held in the library’s conference room Feb. 13-14. Sale hours are from 10 a.m.–4 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 13, and from 10 a.m.–1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 14. Items available at the sale have been withdrawn from the library’s collection for reasons of datedness, condition or lack of circulation. Items include: DVDs (50 cents each), magazines (10 cents each) and VHS videos, audiobooks, and books (25 cents each). Proceeds from the sale go to the village’s general fund.

Food for Thought
The Food for Thought Book Group will meet Thursday, Feb. 12 at 6 p.m. to discuss Wonder by R.J. Palacio. The novel revolves around 10-year-old August, who bears severe facial disfigurations despite undergoing 27 surgeries, and his parents’ decision to send him to middle school after a life of home schooling.

Valentines for Vets
Help us put a smile on veterans’ faces this Valentine’s Day by stopping by the library and creating a one-of-a-kind valentine. Valentines will be delivered to the Veterans Affairs Illiana Health Care System in Danville shortly before Valentine’s Day. All craft supplies will be supplied by the library so come in and make as many as you would like. All ages are encouraged to help spread the love with these handmade cards.

Book Bundles
In a hurry to check out a few books for your child, but unsure about what to get? Let us find books for you! The library has new Book Bundles, perfect for children on sick days, snow days or late-night library trips. Each bundle contains several easy-to-read books perfect for young readers gathered together by subject matter. Just grab a bundle, head to checkout, and you’ll be on your way in no time!

3M Updates
Library patrons can now use the 3M Cloud Library to listen to audiobooks as well as to read library materials. Audiobooks can either be downloaded or streamed directly from the Internet. With apps available for nearly all tablets, eReaders and smartphones (including new apps for Kindle Fire users), all you need to do is log in and start listening.

Baby TALK Text Alerts
Baby Talk is now offering a mobile messaging system for parents and caretakers to get the most up-to-date information on Baby TALK events, schedule changes and program cancellations. Simply text “babytalk” to 95577 to enroll in the messaging system and start receiving text alerts.

Tech Club
Tech Club will meet Feb. 17 from 10-11:30 a.m. Tech Club is intended for adults who have questions about their iPads and iPhones, or for those who enjoy spending time with others who share a love of new technology. Bring your device and any questions you have to the meeting with you. New members are always welcome to join.

IRS Tax Forms
The Internal Revenue Service has greatly reduced the number/variety of tax forms it is sending out to libraries this tax season, but the library is still able to assist patrons in obtaining the necessary forms. Any federal and state forms can be printed at the library for 10 cents per page. To view and download federal forms online, visit IRS.gov/Forms. To order tax products online to be delivered by mail, visit IRS.gov/orderforms. To order tax products by phone to be delivered by mail, call 1-800-829-3676.
