Bug Magnets
Tired of the long winter? Looking for a cute, little reminder that spring is right around the corner? Come to the Forsyth Public Library on Saturday, March 21 for a fun drop-in craft! From 10 a.m.-2 p.m., you can stop in and make a fun bug magnet for your refrigerator. All ages are welcome to attend. No registration is necessary.

Library Renovations
Forsyth Public Library will be closed from Monday, Feb. 23 to Saturday, March 14. During the closure, items cannot be checked out from the library. However, you can still return items to the outside drop box in front of the library, use your library card at all other area libraries and use the digital materials available on the library website. If you have any questions, feel free to call us at 877-8174, as library staff will still be in the building to answer questions and place book requests. Thank you for your patience with us during these renovations. We will reopen the library as soon as possible. Stay tuned to the library’s website and Facebook page for updates.

Story Time and Baby TALK
Baby TALK and Story Time will not meet while the library is closed but will resume again at normal times once the library reopens. Baby TALK meets on Wednesday mornings from 9:30-10:15 a.m. and is for children ages birth through 3 and their caregivers. Story Time meets Thursday mornings from 10-10:45 a.m. and is for children ages 3-5.

Summer performers audition
The library hosted librarians from around Central Illinois on Jan. 28 for a performer showcase and summer reading program discussion. There were about a dozen professional performers on hand to perform small portions of their programs so that librarians could check out options for their summer programming. Youth Services Librarian Sandi Hayes did most of the planning and organizing of the event.

Valentines for Vets a success
Forsyth artists came through by creating one-of-a-kind valentines for veterans. Thanks to the creativity and generosity of time of some of our patrons, 42 unique, handmade valentines were recently mailed to the Veterans Affairs Illiana Health Care System in Danville. The library supplied the craft supplies as part of the Valentines for Vets drop-in craft program.

Grand Reopening
Mark your calendars for the library’s Grand Reopening Open House! The open house will be Tuesday, April 14 from 4-7 p.m. in the library and will celebrate the completion of our renovations as well as National Library Week. Music for the event will be provided by Salty Strings from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Watch for more details in the coming weeks. 
