Pumpkin-Decorating Contest
Show your fall spirit at Forsyth Public Library’s pumpkin-decorating contest! Decorate a pumpkin at home to resemble a favorite book character and bring it to the library the week of Oct. 19-24. All entries must be received by 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 24. Pumpkins can be painted, colored, hot-glued and crafted in a multitude of creative ways, but no carving. Full details and rules are available at the library. Adults, kids, families and even a team can enter! The public is invited to the library during the week of Oct. 26-29 to vote for their favorite pumpkin. Votes will be tallied, and winners’ ribbons will be awarded at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 29.

WSOY Food Drive
Forsyth Public Library is a drop-off point for the WSOY Community Food Drive. Canned goods and non-perishable items may be brought to the library Oct. 5-8. Donated items will be picked up and delivered to the main collection point on Friday, Oct. 9. Let’s help stock the shelves of our local food pantries!

Drop-In Fall Craft
Add some fall decoration to your home! Families are invited to stop by the library anytime between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 10 to decorate your own foam pumpkin magnet. No registration is required. Craft is appropriate for all ages.

Food for Thought Book Discussion Group
Food for Thought book group will meet Thursday, Oct. 8 at 6 p.m. The group will be discuss Escape from Camp 14: One Man’s Remarkable Odyssey from North Korea to Freedom in the West by Blaine Harden. This New York Times bestseller is a true story of desperate bravery and miraculous good luck. New members are always welcome.
Bookkeepers Book Discussion Group meets Friday, Oct. 16
Bookkeepers book group meets Friday, Oct. 16 at 10 a.m. to discuss The Scent of Rain and Lightning by Nancy Pickard. This novel of suspense tells the tale of an overturned murder conviction and the town the man returns to while sharing the story of what happened all those years ago. New members are always welcome.

Story Time
Fall Story Time sessions are held from 10-10:45 a.m. every Thursday morning. Children ages 3-5 and their caregivers are invited for stories, crafts and other activities based on the theme of the day. No registration is necessary. 

  • Oct. 1 – Arr, Matey! Today ye should wear black and practice yer best swashbucklin’ accent while we read stories about pirates!
  • Oct. 8 – This Thursday is a triple treat! We will be reading stories that feature the number three! Come wearing your favorite blue clothing.
  • Oct. 15 – Everyone should wear purple today to match the story when we read Harold and the Purple Crayon!

Baby TALK
Forsyth Public Library is the place to be on Wednesday mornings for families with children from birth to age 3. Drop in for Baby TALK sessions from 9:30-10:15 a.m. each Wednesday. No registration is necessary.

New Online Catalog Features
Forsyth library card holders can access some new features in their online library account. It is now possible to save a list of items you have checked out from the library making it easier to remember the names of favorite authors or which books you especially enjoyed. You can also save specific searches within the library’s online catalog and have results emailed to you. This is especially helpful if you regularly search for new books by a particular author or want to know when books on a particular topic are added. The library can provide more detail about these new features and supply the PIN needed to access your account. Give us a call at 877-8174 or ask about it on your next library visit.
