Food For Thought Book Club

The February selection for the Food For Thought book club will be The Kitchen House by Kathleen Grissom. One reviewer called this historical novel an “unforgettable perspective on slavery and families and human ties in the Old South.” The discussion will take place on Thursday, February 9 at 6 p.m. at Forsyth Public Library. New members are always welcome!

Bookkeepers Book Club

The Choice by Nicholas Sparks is the title for the Friday, February 17 meeting of the Bookkeepers book club. This moving love story was made into a movie. Bookkeepers Book Club meets on the third Friday of the month at 10 a.m. All readers are welcome to attend!

Back to Story Time!

On Friday, February 3 our regular preschool Story Time will start up again! Join us every Friday at 10 a.m. for fun new stories and activities sure to help little ones learn to enjoy books. Story times are geared toward children ages 3 to 5, but siblings are welcome. No registration required.

Baby TALK

Parents, caregivers and their young children (ages 0 to 3) join us for Baby TALK Baby TALK every Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. Baby TALK provides children and parents with social interaction and positive parenting strategies. Sessions include simple rhymes, stories, dancing and play time.

Family LEGO Time

Join us for Family LEGO Time on Saturday, February 4 from 11 a.m.–2 p.m. Adults and kids are invited to drop in and build together with the library’s LEGO blocks. What will YOU create?

Sew Much Fun

The next meeting of Sew Much Fun: Hand Sewing for Kids will be held Thursday, February 2 from 4-5 p.m. Sew Much Fun is for kids in grade 3 and up. No sewing experience is necessary, but you must register in advance. Come make something fun!

Valentines for Vets

Help us show appreciation to veterans this Valentine’s Day! Stop by the library any time through Saturday, February 4 to make a valentine for vets. Valentines will be delivered to the Veterans Affairs Illiana Health Care System in Danville shortly before Valentine’s Day. All craft supplies are provided so come in and make as many as you like. All ages are encouraged to help spread the love with these handmade cards.

Demographics Now

DemographicsNow is a database service that provides highly detailed demographic data, useful in business planning and development, marketing, population analysis, and much more. Thanks to a partnership of area institutions, this valuable service is now available for free to Forsyth Public Library patrons. The library will offer two DemographicsNow classes taught by Richland Community College staff. Introduction to DemographicsNow will be held Tuesday, January 31 with a choice of times: noon–1:30 p.m. or 6–7:30 p.m. Advanced DemographicsNow will be held Tuesday, February 28 from noon–1:30 p.m. or 6–7:30 p.m. Advanced registration is required. You can access DemographicsNow from the library’s “Materials Search” with your library card number and PIN/password. You can access online tutorials at www.decaturlibrary.org/DemoNow.
