Reading Takes You Everywhere!

There are just a few more weeks of Forsyth Public Library’s 2018 summer reading program, so don’t forget to keep reading! There is still time to make it across the finish line, but be sure to bring your reading log back to the library by Saturday, August 4 to receive your prizes. Also on August 4, come participate in Arr-gust Pirate Voyage. Stop by the library between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. for this new Storywalk™ Adventure.

Block Printing

Learn the ancient art of block printing, and gain the skills for a new hobby. Instructor Jennifer Stout will guide you through the process of carving a stamp, then making prints with your design. No experience is necessary. Participants will leave with their artwork and reusable printer’s block. Join us Saturday, July 14 at 10 a.m. Please register in advance.

Adult Bingo

Have fun playing bingo at the library. We’ll have light refreshments and prizes for the winners on Monday, July 16 at 1 p.m. All adults are welcome.

Dance with Me

Join instructor Michi Barber from the Dance Centre on Tuesday, July 17 at 10 a.m. for brain dance. Children and an adult partner will experience the benefits of movement for brain development through dance. Geared for ages 16 months to 3 years, but children not yet in kindergarten are welcome to attend. No registration is necessary.

Terrific Tuesdays

All ages are invited to the library’s Tuesday programs from 2-3 p.m. Mad Science will get things moving as children discover the power of air pressure on Tuesday, July 17. The audience will experience the movement of flying toilet paper, a hovercraft, a mini hot air balloon, fog rings and air-powered confetti. On Tuesday, July 24, celebrate the end of summer reading with ice cream and model airplanes. Join The Decatur Aerocommanders R/C Club as they show us the view from a flying drone. Create your own ice cream sundae, then take home your very own balsa wood model airplane. No registration required.

Rice Krispy Treats

Come create your very own Rice Krispy treats with a variety of add-ins, cereals and toppings on Wednesday, July 18 from 1-2 p.m. The possibilities are endless and delicious. Please register in advance for this program geared for ages 10 and up.

Story Times

We’ll be wrapping up our summer transportation-themed story times with trains on Thursday, July 19 and heavy machinery on Thursday, July 26. Story times are at 10 a.m. and are geared toward ages 2-6 with siblings welcome. Each session includes a fun craft to make and take home. No registration is necessary. Fall story times will resume on Friday, September 7 at 10 a.m.

Baby Talk
