Library and Parks unite
Don’t forget to keep June 1 in mind as you plan your summer activities. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Forsyth Public Library, Director Rachel Miller invites all ages to “Pop In and Sign Up” on a day she calls perfect for “one-stop shopping.” You can sign up for both library and parks programs all in one spot.

Read, read, read!
The theme for summer reading is “Have Book Will Travel,” a nod to all the adventurous journeys that reading provides. From babies to adults, and all ages in between, there are plenty of reading incentives at the library.

For adults, when you reach the 60-hour reading level, your free prize is a heavy-duty travel coffee cup. Gary Birschbach of the Forsyth McDonald’s will pour you a free cup of coffee as a reward, too.

For teen readers, check out the display in the library to see if your favorite local places are sponsoring the surprise envelopes that you’ll be reading for a chance to win.
Ambitious kid readers can grab prizes from bins of fun gifts. If there’s something in a bin you really like, earn your way to winning it again.

Youth Garden
On June 4, from 10 to 11 a.m., the experts from the Garden Club of Decatur will lend a hand — and presumably green thumbs — to a good cause: helping to keep the library beautiful all summer long. Come help plant a lovely flower garden we can all be proud of. Plants will be provided by the Forsyth Sunrise Rotary Club and the Maroa-Forsyth High School Agriculture Department.

The Rock Springs Dulcimer Club will perform at the June 3 Elderwatch program. Note time and place have changed to 11:30 a.m. at Forsyth United Methodist Church, 210 Ruehl St. It’s a potluck with presentations by the library’s Rachel Miller and Mike Poe, park program director, to highlight summer activities for seniors.

Father’s Day drop-in craft
On June 8 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., come in to create a keepsake gift for Dad for Father’s Day.

Listen Up!
On June 8 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., join us for “Listen Up!” Learn about all the ways to listen to books: CD, cassette tape, audiobooks from Library on the Go and self-contained digital books called Playaways. Playaway reps will showcase their books and give away earbuds and other freebies.
